Special Session

Bonifay, Florida

The Holmes County Board of Commissioners met in Special Session on the above date with the following members present: Commissioner Kenneth Williams, Commissioner Monty Merchant, Commissioner Jim King, Commissioner Phillip Music, and Commissioner Raymon Thomas, Chairman of the Board.

Mr. Greg Wood, County Administrator, was present.

Alice Vickers, Deputy Clerk, was present and kept the minutes.

Chairman Thomas opened the meeting with prayer and led the pledge.

Chairman Thomas advised that a piece of property suitable for the new Emergency Operations Center had been located. He asked that the Board authorize someone to be their representative and negotiate a purchase price. Commissioner King asked that the Board not consider any property that was too far out of town and to secure at least ten to fifteen acres so there would be ample room. Commissioners Williams stated that funding would be an issue if we purchased several acres. Greg Wood, County Administrator, advised that financing could be arranged if funding was not available for the purchase. He also advised that the Airport Authority had asked for consideration of a site at the airport which was approximately 6 miles out of town. Commissioner King offered a motion to authorize Chairman Thomas and Greg Wood to negotiate for property for the EOC. Commissioner Music offered a second. The motion passed unanimously.

Commissioner Music offered a motion to adjourn with Commissioner Williams offering a second. The motion passed unanimously.
