Special Session

Bonifay, Florida

 

     The Holmes County Board of Commissioners met in a Special Session on the above date with the following members present:  Commissioner Kenneth Williams, Commissioner Phillip Music, Commissioner Monty Merchant, and Commissioner Raymon Thomas, Chairman of the Board.

 

     Sherry Fitzpatrick, Deputy Clerk, was present and kept the minutes.

     Chairman Thomas led the prayer and pledge.

    

     Commissioner Williams made a motion to send a last notice letter to all Road Department mechanics stating that it is against county policy to drive the county vehicles for personal use and if this happens again the vehicles will be taken away. Commissioner Merchant offered a second. The motion passed unanimously.

 

     Commissioner Merchant asked if the baseball fields located at the Prosperity Park could be used for practice games. Amy Loflin, Project Management Specialist, stated she would discuss this issue with John Hagans, Projects Manager.

 

     Commissioner Merchant stated there is a possibility of being able to use a lot that is located very close to the ambulance station in Westville to locate the travel trailer that is temporary being used. Commissioner Merchant will bring more information to the Board at a later meeting.

 

     Commissioner Jim King joined the meeting.

 

     The Board recessed.

   

     The Board reconvened.

 

     The Board held an interview for the County Administrator position. Dr. Beverly Helms was present during the interview to mediate the questions.

 

     The Board voted unanimously to approve Chairman Thomas to start negotiations with Gregory Wood to fill the position of County Administrator.

 

     Commissioner King made a motion to allow the new County Administrator a six month time limit to move to Holmes County with Commissioner Music offering a second. The motion passed unanimously.
