Pay a Traffic Ticket

Upon receipt of a traffic ticket for an infraction. You have 30 days from the date of issuance to exercise any of the following three options:

Option 1 – Pay the Ticket
If you choose to pay the ticket, points could be assessed against your driver's license, and you must pay the fine within 30 days of the date you received the ticket.

Option 2 – Driver’s Improvement School
If you choose to take a driver improvement course, you must add a $7.00 affidavit fee to the amount of the fine and sign the Traffic School Affidavit and file it with the Clerk's office along with the payment for the ticket. Upon receipt of your affidavit and ticket payment you will be granted an extra 60 days to attend a four (4) hour basic driver improvement course approved by the State of Florida. Submit the school certificate to the Washington County Clerk of Court by mail, fax or email. Failure to comply will result in late fees being assessed and potential suspension of your driver license. However, with complying to the terms, no points will be assessed against your driver's license.

Option 3 – Contest the Ticket in Court
If you choose to contest the ticket, you must make your request for a hearing in writing to the Clerk within 30 days of the date of the citation. A form is supplied below. If you are unable to attend contact clerk at khaddock@washingtonclerk.com . If you have been charged with Unlawful Speed 30 mph over posted speed, the State of Florida requires a Mandatory Court appearance. You will be notified of your court date.
