Names are drawn for service as a juror from the Department of Motor Vehicles list. Jury Duty is one of the most important civic responsibilities second only to serving in your country's military. Having a Jury System helps to ensure each and everyone to a fair trial. Trials, for the most part, do not last over three days. Compensation is mandated at the State level and is $15 for the first 3 days and $30 per day thereafter. If you are fully compensated by your employer you will not receive Jury pay until you have served longer than three days.

All request for excusal must be submitted in writing. Excusal is granted unless otherwise notified. Request for excusal due to personal, business, or medical reasons must be submitted in writting. Florida Statute provides excusal upon request for the following: expectant mother, parent not employed full time and who has custody of a child under 6 years of age, person 70 years or older, or someone who has served as juror in his/her county within 1 year of January 1 this year.
